Chugach State Park covers 495,204 acres immediately east of Anchorage. The park is the third-largest state park in the United States and can be accessed by the nearby Albert Loop Trail which passes through three miles of forest leading to glacier-fed Eagle River. The Rodak Nature Trail leads to a beaver and salmon viewing deck.

Second Beach, Olympic National Park. Created in 1909 by President Theodore Roosevelt, Olympic National Park is located in the northwest corner of Washington State. In 1976 the Park was designated an International Biosphere Reserve and in 1981 it was designated a World Heritage site. Mt Olympus at 7,965 feet is the highest point in the Park. The Hoh and Quinault Rainforests on the western slopes of the Park receive over 150 inches of rain per year and are the wettest areas in the continental United States.
